The Bank planned and achieved the ISO27001 certification for all its branches and office across UAE in 2008. ISO/IEC 27001:2005 (usually known just as ISO 27001) is a globally recognized standard for "Information Security Management system" (ISMS). ISO27001 provides the practice specification that helps businesses and organizations throughout the world to develop a best-in-class ISMS, incorporating Deming's Plan-Do-Check-Act cycle.
First Gulf Bank had the IT and data center facility certified for ISO27001 in the year 2007 and for the entire bank including the branches spread across UAE in 2008. In 2009, successful second year surveillance audit for the bank was completed. ISO27001 provides the accreditation on the bank's security practices to customers, regulators, partners and other stake holders.
It imbibes process and procedure that are in line with the best practices for protecting business citical information with increased staff awareness. It also demonstrates, bank's preparedness for handling information security incidents from the perspective of confidentiality, integrity and Availability.
